Overview
The Unicel 4CH-20 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element providing 20.0 sq ft of filtration area in a compact form factor engineered for high-bather-load spa circulation systems. Construction consists of Reemay nonwoven polyester media at nominal 20-micron filtration efficiency, supported on a perforated polypropylene core with injection-molded ABS end caps configured in a closed-bottom, open-top geometry typical of Saratoga-family threaded handle cartridges. The element is rated for continuous service to 115°F with intermittent excursions to 120°F, suitable for the operating pressure envelope of residential spa pumps (typical 5–15 PSI clean differential). End cap adhesive is UV-stabilized and chemically resistant to standard spa sanitizer chemistries.
Service interval recommendation: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak in dilute TSP or enzyme cleaner every 4–6 weeks to remove accumulated body oils, lotions, and surfactants that resist water rinsing alone. Replace at ≤ 3-month intervals for daily-use spas or at ΔP ≥ 5 PSI above clean operating baseline, whichever occurs first; ≤ 6-month intervals are acceptable for seasonal or low-utilization installations. Chemical compatibility: polyester fabric and ABS end caps tolerate continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum exposure, thorough rinse required before reinstallation). Enzyme cleaner compatible without restriction. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturer’s defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
