Overview
The Unicel C-7479 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element delivering 75.0 sq ft of filtration area in a high-capacity form factor engineered for Caldera Spas circulation systems and equivalent housings. Media construction is Reemay-grade nonwoven polyester with a nominal 15-micron filtration efficiency, supported by molded ABS end caps and a structural inner core sized for spa-rated operating pressures. The cartridge features a threaded bottom adapter typical of the Caldera 72830 housing series, with the upper end cap configured as a handled closed top for tool-free service extraction. The element is rated for continuous service at temperatures up to 115°F, consistent with portable spa duty cycles, and is dimensionally controlled to ±0.030 inch on critical mating surfaces to ensure bypass-free seating in OEM housings.
Service intervals for spa cartridge applications run accelerated relative to pool elements: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks, perform a chemical soak (dilute TSP or enzyme-based cartridge cleaner) every 4–6 weeks to dissolve oils, lotions, and surfactant residue not removed by rinsing, and replace the element at 12–15 months of service or at a ΔP ≥ 5 PSI above clean operating baseline, whichever occurs first. Chemical compatibility: polyester fabric is rated for continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale remediation, with a maximum 20-minute exposure followed by thorough fresh-water rinse prior to reinstallation. Enzyme cleaners are compatible without restriction. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturing defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
