Overview
The Unicel FG-3022 is a complete DE grid filter element set engineered for Hayward Pro-Grid DE3022 and equivalent Pac-Fab housings, supplying the full eight-grid sector assembly required for one complete filter rebuild. Grid construction utilizes powder-coated steel frames overlaid with high-tensile polyester mesh fabric, factory-bonded at frame perimeters to resist DE blowback and fabric separation under cycled backwash pressure. The set comprises seven full-size grids plus one partial (top) grid, providing the full rated 30 sq ft of effective filtration area characteristic of the DE3022 platform. Frames are dimensionally matched to OEM manifold seats with tolerances held to maintain bypass-free engagement at the collector hub. Operating pressure rating: up to 50 PSI; nominal DE loading: 3 lb diatomaceous earth per recharge cycle, distributed across the grid set after each backwash.
Service interval recommendation: backwash when ΔP rises 5–8 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline; recharge DE per manufacturer loading specification immediately following each backwash cycle. Annual disassembly, inspection, and full manifold service is recommended, with grid replacement triggered by fabric tears exceeding 1 inch, delamination from frame, frame corrosion, or measurable DE blowback into the pool. Chemical compatibility: polyester grid fabric tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and is compatible with muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution for calcium and mineral scale removal; enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction for oil and organic loading. Avoid extended exposure to undiluted acid or chlorine shock concentrations exceeding 10 ppm. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturing defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
