Overview
The Unicel PG-1906 is a Perflex-style DE filter grid element engineered as a direct replacement for the Hayward DEX7200DC manifold-mounted grid assembly, constructed with a polyester fabric media bonded to a heat-stabilized polypropylene frame. The grid is designed for vertical-orientation mounting within Perflex EC-series and equivalent DE filter housings, with fabric porosity calibrated to retain diatomaceous earth media at 1–2 lb per 10 sq ft loading density. Frame geometry maintains rigid sector spacing under operating pressure to prevent fabric collapse and DE blowback at the manifold junction. The element is rated for continuous service at operating pressures up to 35 PSI and water temperatures to 104°F, with fabric construction meeting standard pool/spa filtration requirements at nominal sub-5-micron filtration when properly precoated with DE media.
Service interval recommendation: backwash (bump cycle) when ΔP rises 5–8 PSI above clean-filter baseline; recharge DE media at full label dosage following each backwash sequence. Annual service requires complete disassembly, inspection of all grids for fabric tears exceeding 1 inch, delamination from frame edges, or frame deformation — any of which requires immediate element replacement. Chemical compatibility: polyester grid fabric tolerates continuous operation at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and is compatible with muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution for calcium scale remediation (maximum 20-minute exposure, thorough rinse required prior to reinstallation). Enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction for removal of oils and organic fouling. Inspect manifold gasket and air-bleed assembly at every grid replacement to ensure system integrity. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturing defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
