Overview
The Unicel 4CH-24 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element providing 25.0 sq ft of effective filtration area through a Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack with nominal 15-micron filtration efficiency. Dimensional specifications: 4-15/16 inch OD, 2-1/8 inch ID, 9-1/4 inch length, with a top handle and threaded SAE bottom fitting (1-1/2 inch MPT) configured for screw-in mount housings. End cap construction is ABS injection-molded, bonded to a perforated polypropylene core that delivers axial rigidity across the operating pressure range of standard spa circulation pumps (5–25 PSI). Maximum rated continuous service temperature is 104°F with intermittent excursion capacity to 115°F. The threaded base provides a positive, bypass-free seat without supplemental gasket hardware.
Service interval recommendation: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks under typical residential spa use; chemical soak with dilute TSP or commercial cartridge cleaner every 4–6 weeks to remove oils, lotions, and biofilm residues that resist mechanical rinsing. Replace at ≤ 12-month intervals for standard residential service, or on ΔP trigger of ≥ 5 PSI above clean baseline, whichever occurs first. Install hand-tight on threaded base — do NOT apply tool torque, as overtightening risks end-cap deformation. Chemical compatibility: polyester media and ABS end caps tolerate continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum soak, thorough freshwater rinse before reinstallation). Enzyme cleaners are compatible without restriction. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturing defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
