The Unicel 4CH-30 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element providing 30.0 sq ft of filtration area in a compact, threaded-base configuration engineered for top-load spa filter housings. Dimensional specifications: 4-15/16-inch OD, 11-7/8-inch overall length, with a molded ABS bottom end cap featuring an integrated 1-1/2-inch MPT (male pipe thread) connection and a closed top handle end cap for single-point service removal. Media construction is Reemay-spec nonwoven polyester at nominal 20-micron filtration efficiency, supported on a structural PVC core with UV-stabilized end cap adhesive rated for continuous service at temperatures up to 115°F. Operating pressure range: 5–15 PSI typical for spa circulation pump applications, with end cap bond integrity verified through standard ASTM shear testing at elevated temperature.
Service interval recommendation for spa applications: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak in dilute TSP or commercial enzyme cleaner every 4–6 weeks to remove accumulated body oils, lotions, and surfactant residue that resist standard rinsing. Replace at 12-month intervals under typical residential spa duty cycles, or earlier if ΔP rises ≥ 5 PSI above clean operating baseline, if visible pleat collapse or fabric channeling is observed, or if thread integrity at the ABS base shows wear. Chemical compatibility: polyester media tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is compatible for calcium scale remediation (20-minute maximum exposure, followed by thorough fresh-water rinse).
