Overview
The Unicel C-7633 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element rated for residential and light commercial pool applications, providing 33 sq ft of filtration area via Reemay nonwoven polyester media. Dimensional specifications: 5.0-inch OD, 2.125-inch ID, 12.625-inch length, with closed-bottom and open-flow top configuration. End caps are ABS injection-molded; core construction is 2.125-inch Schedule-40 PVC pipe providing axial rigidity throughout the rated pressure range. Nominal filtration efficiency is 20 microns under standard test conditions; rated flow capacity is 33 GPM at clean operating differential. The element is rated for continuous service to 104°F and operating pressures to 50 PSI, suitable for matched-pump systems with full-flow turnover requirements in the 33,000–40,000-gallon volume range.
Service interval recommendation: residential installations — pressure-differential-based replacement triggered at ΔP ≥ 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline, or annual calendar cycle, whichever occurs first. Rinse cycle every 4–6 weeks; chemical soak with TSP or enzyme cleaner every 3–6 months to remove oils, surfactants, and organic loading that resist water rinsing. Verify housing O-ring condition and lubricate with silicone-based O-ring grease at each service interval; confirm post-installation pressure reading against documented clean baseline to validate seating. Chemical compatibility: polyester media tolerates continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine; muriatic acid soak (1:20 dilution, 20-minute maximum exposure) compatible for calcium scale removal; enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction.
