Overview
The Unicel C-7656 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element rated for residential and light commercial pool applications, providing 50.0 sq ft of filtration area through a Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack with nominal 20-micron filtration efficiency. Dimensional specifications: 7.0-inch OD, 1.5-inch ID, 14.75-inch length; end caps are ABS injection-molded in a closed-bottom, open-top configuration seated on a Schedule-40 PVC core for axial rigidity under operating pressure. Rated flow is 150 GPM at 15 PSI clean differential, with continuous service rated to 104°F and operating pressures to 25 PSI. UV-stabilized end cap bonding resists chemical degradation under standard pool water chemistry, and OD/ID tolerances are held within ±0.030 inch of OEM specifications for bypass-free seating.
Service interval recommendation: residential installations — pressure-differential-based replacement triggered at ΔP ≥ 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline, or on an annual calendar cycle, whichever occurs first. Rinse every 4–6 weeks under normal bather load; perform chemical soak (dilute TSP or enzyme cleaner) every 3–6 months to remove oils and surfactant residue that resist water rinsing. For calcium scale accumulation, the element is compatible with muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution (20 minutes maximum exposure); rinse thoroughly before reinstallation. Chlorine tolerance: continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine; ABS end cap construction is compatible with standard acid wash procedures and enzyme cleaners without restriction.
