Overview
The Unicel FG-1006 is a complete DE filter grid manifold assembly engineered as a direct OEM replacement component for Hayward Pro-Grid and Micro Clear DE filter systems utilizing the DEX7200MAN manifold platform. The assembly serves as the upper collector header that mates to the grid element array, distributing filtered flow to the filter housing outlet port and providing the structural seating surface for individual DE grid sectors. Construction is injection-molded high-impact ABS thermoplastic with integrated sector ports machined to OEM bore tolerance for leak-free grid stem engagement. The manifold is rated to filter housing maximum operating pressure (50 PSI) and continuous service temperature to 104°F, with chemical resistance to standard pool water chemistry including stabilized chlorine and dilute muriatic acid wash exposure. Dimensional and port-pattern accuracy is held to OEM specification to ensure correct grid alignment and bypass-free seating within the filter tank.
Service replacement is recommended during annual DE filter teardown and grid inspection, or at any point manifold cracking, port-bore distortion, or sector-stem leakage is identified during diagnostic inspection — manifold failure typically manifests as DE blowback into the pool return regardless of grid condition. Installation requires complete filter disassembly: drain housing, remove clamp band and lid, extract grid assembly, transfer grids to the new manifold while verifying O-ring seating at each sector port, and reassemble with new tank O-ring (inspect and replace as required). Post-installation, recharge DE media at 1–2 lb per 10 sq ft of grid area and verify clean operating baseline pressure; subsequent backwash trigger at ΔP ≥ 5–8 PSI above clean baseline. Chemical compatibility: ABS construction tolerates continuous chlorine exposure without ppm limit, muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution, and standard enzyme cleaners without restriction.
