Overview

The Unicel C-5345 is a pleated polyester pool and spa cartridge filter element providing 45.0 sq ft of effective filtration area through a Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Dimensional specifications: 4.94-inch OD, 2.0-inch open top, 2.0-inch open bottom, 14.0-inch overall length, with ABS injection-molded end caps in a dual-open-end configuration for top-and-bottom manifold seating. Media nominal filtration efficiency: 20 microns under standard test conditions. The element is rated for continuous service to 104°F and operating pressures to 25 PSI. End cap adhesive is UV-stabilized and resistant to chemical degradation under standard residential pool and spa water chemistry. The 45 sq ft area-to-length ratio provides extended dirt-loading capacity well-suited to bather-load applications above residential averages.

Service interval recommendation: rinse every 4–6 weeks under standard residential bather load, or sooner when ΔP rises 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline. Chemical soak with TSP or enzyme cleaner every 3–6 months to release oils, surfactants, and lotion residues that resist water rinsing. Replacement on an annual calendar cycle or at first evidence of fabric tear, pleat collapse, or end-cap delamination — whichever occurs first. Chemical compatibility: polyester media and ABS end caps tolerate continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or equivalent total bromine; muriatic acid wash at 1:20 dilution (20-minute maximum immersion) compatible for calcium scale remediation; enzyme cleaners compatible without restriction. Verify O-ring condition and reseat manifold after each service cycle; confirm post-installation operating pressure against clean baseline.
