Overview
The Unicel C-5346 is a pleated polyester spa cartridge filter element engineered for Marquis Spas circulation systems, providing 50 sq ft of effective filtration area through a high-pleat-count Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. The element features molded ABS end caps in a closed-bottom, open-top configuration with a standard 2-inch female SAE thread on the upper cap for threaded standpipe mounting common to Marquis-platform housings. Nominal filtration efficiency is rated at 15 microns under standard test conditions, with a maximum continuous service temperature of 115°F suitable for spa-rated operating environments. Construction is centered on a perforated PVC support core for axial rigidity under the cyclical pressure loading typical of spa pump duty. End cap adhesive bond is rated to ASTM D1002 shear standards at elevated spa operating temperatures.
Service interval recommendation for spa applications: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks; chemical soak in dilute TSP or commercial enzyme/degreaser every 4–6 weeks to remove body oils, lotions, and surfactant residue that resist standard rinsing. Replace at 12–15 month intervals under typical residential spa loading, or sooner if ΔP rises ≥ 5 PSI above clean-filter baseline, if visible fabric degradation is present, or if end cap bond shows signs of separation. Chemical compatibility: continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak (1:20 dilution, 20-minute maximum exposure) acceptable for calcium scale removal followed by thorough fresh-water rinse. Verify ozone or non-chlorine shock compatibility with sanitization system specification before deployment in supplemental oxidizer applications.
