Overview
The Unicel PG-1903 is a complete DE filter grid set assembly engineered as a direct OEM replacement for Hayward DEX3600DC manifold-equipped diatomaceous earth filter housings. The set consists of eight grids — seven full-size sectors and one partial sector — constructed of polypropylene mesh fabric heat-bonded to molded polymer frames with integrated bottom flow ports. Total filtration area for the complete set is rated for 36 sq ft housing capacity. DE media loading specification: 1.0 lb per 10 sq ft of grid area, yielding a recharge volume of approximately 3.6 lb per backwash cycle. Grid fabric is rated for nominal 5-micron filtration efficiency with DE precoat applied. Operating pressure range: 10–30 PSI residential service; maximum service temperature 104°F. Frame and mesh assembly meets standard ASTM tensile and burst specifications for residential DE filter applications.
Service interval recommendation: backwash when ΔP rises 5–8 PSI above clean operating baseline following DE precoat; full grid set disassembly, inspection, and DE recharge required annually at minimum. Replace individual grids or the complete set when fabric tears exceed 1 inch, when delamination from the frame is observed, or when persistent DE blowback into the pool indicates manifold or grid seal failure. Verify manifold O-ring condition and air relief assembly function at every annual service. Chemical compatibility: polypropylene mesh tolerates continuous operation at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine and is compatible with muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution for calcium scale removal (30 minutes maximum exposure); enzyme cleaner compatible without restriction. Avoid TSP concentrations exceeding manufacturer recommendation on bonded mesh assemblies. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturing defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
