Overview
The Unicel C-5374 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element engineered for mid-capacity residential spa and small pool applications, delivering 65.0 sq ft of filtration surface area through a Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack with nominal 15-micron filtration efficiency. Dimensional specifications conform to the Waterway 500-series form factor: 7.0-inch OD, 1.9-inch ID with handle-top configuration, and 14.875-inch overall length. Construction features ABS injection-molded end caps with a closed-bottom, handle-top geometry seated on a perforated PVC core for axial rigidity under standard spa-loop pressure. The element is rated for continuous service at temperatures up to 115°F and operating pressures to 25 PSI, with the elevated surface area providing extended dirt-holding capacity and reduced cycle frequency relative to lower-area equivalents in the same housing class.
Service interval recommendation: rinse with fresh water every 2–4 weeks under standard residential spa duty cycles; perform chemical soak (dilute TSP or dedicated enzyme cartridge cleaner) at 4–6 week intervals to remove oils, surfactants, and biofilm that resist water rinse. Replacement is recommended at 12–15 month intervals, or sooner when ΔP rises ≥ 5 PSI above the documented clean-filter baseline, or upon visual evidence of media channeling, pleat delamination, or end-cap bond failure. Chemical compatibility: polyester media and ABS end caps are compatible with continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine or ≤ 30 ppm total bromine; muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is approved for calcium scale removal (20-minute maximum exposure, followed by thorough fresh-water rinse). Enzyme-based cartridge cleaners are compatible without restriction. Standard Unicel 90-day manufacturer’s defect warranty applies through authorized distribution.
