Overview
The Unicel C-7499 is a pleated polyester cartridge filter element engineered for residential and light commercial pool applications, delivering 100 sq ft of filtration area through a high-pleat-count Reemay nonwoven polyester media pack. Dimensional specifications: 7.0-inch OD, 3.0-inch ID, 30.69-inch length, with molded ABS end caps configured open-top/closed-bottom over a perforated polypropylene core for axial rigidity under sustained load. Nominal filtration efficiency is rated at 20 microns under standard test conditions; rated flow capacity is 100 GPM at clean operating differential. Maximum continuous service temperature is 104°F, with operating pressure rated to 50 PSI. End cap bond chemistry is formulated for UV and chemical resistance under standard pool sanitizer chemistries.
Service interval recommendation: rinse at 4–6 week intervals or upon ΔP rise of 8–10 PSI above clean-filter operating baseline; chemical soak (dilute TSP or commercial enzyme cleaner) every 3–6 months to remove oils, surfactants, and organic loading that resist rinse. Annual replacement is recommended, or sooner upon visible fabric degradation, pleat channeling, or core deformation. For calcium scale accumulation, muriatic acid soak at 1:20 dilution is compatible with the ABS end cap construction; limit acid exposure to 20 minutes maximum and rinse thoroughly prior to reinstallation. Chlorine tolerance: continuous service at ≤ 10 ppm free available chlorine; bromine compatible without restriction. Verify tank O-ring condition and lubricate with silicone-based sealant at each service; conduct post-installation pressure verification before returning system to automated operation.
